The United States welcomes the emergence of a China that is peaceful and prosperous and that supports international institutions.

I'll continue to discuss with President Hu the importance of respecting human rights and freedoms of the Chinese people.

I call upon all Americans to recognize and celebrate the important work that volunteers do every day throughout our country.
