I consider the media to be indispensable to democracy that we need an independent media to hold people like me to account. I mean, power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive, and it's important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power, whether be here or elsewhere.
Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens), the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government.
We're a blessed nation because we can grow our own food. A nation that can feed its people is a nation more secure.
If we leave Iraq before our commanders say that we are ready we will be risking the future of Iraq.
