George H.W. Bush: “I would not think there would be any announcements today.”

American officials must heed the lessons of the short-lived coup in 2002, when Bush Administration support for Chavez's ouster undermined America's standing in the region and damaged our credibility as a defender of democracy.

We are here today, together, to strengthen and reform U.N. peacekeeping because our common security demands it.

I understand Americans are angry and frustrated. But we do not need someone in the oval office who mirrors and inflames our anger and frustration.

I want to thank Senator Cardin for his tremendous leadership, for years, on human rights issues.
