“As I listen to the presentation by those from the other side of the aisle, it is always the same siren song. There is always a higher priority than helping families, giving families tax relief, so that they will have more in their pockets to take care of their immediate needs. And there are always priorities that are ahead of creating fairness in the Tax Code. They have not met a tax relief bill to let working Americans keep more in their pockets that they liked. They always have some reason to be against it over and over and over again. They shout out the President will veto this. We heard that in our last debate. We heard it over and over again from their side. The President will veto this bill; therefore, we cannot embrace it. That was on the pension, retirement security bill. There were 25 votes against that bill. Are we to believe it is credible when they say the President is going to veto these bills? I do not think so. That should not be an argument. We should do the right thing, and that is what we are doing today.”
