We want to expand access to these clinical trials as much as is reasonable. In addition, access to clinical trials is critically important from a societal standpoint, because without an adequate number of people participating in clinical trials, there is no way to translate the tremendous investment that we put into research and basic science. We must learn through clinical trials, clinical experiments, and investigations. Ultimately, the knowledge ends up in clinical application to benefit people who have heart disease, lung disease, myasthenia gravis, mental health problems, or who are recovering from stroke.
