I had the privilege of traveling to Normandy, France, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the D-day landings. This particular journey took with two of our colleagues, Senator Bob Bennett and Senator John Ensign. The three of us had a truly extraordinary experience. We spent the previous 2 days in Baghdad, Iraq, and in Kuwait, and then flew from Baghdad to the U.S.-French binational ceremony at Omaha Beach.
