Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of the Water Resources Development Act of 2024. This legislation will extend the Asian carp prevention and control pilot programs that direct the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to prevent the spread of Asian carp in the Tennessee and Cumberland River watershed. These fish are a disaster. Mr. Speaker, you need to go on YouTube and watch them. They are repopulating and nothing really can stop them right now. People love east Tennessee because of its natural beauty. It is home to many businesses, like Ingram Marine Group, MasterCraft, Malibu Boats, and others that rely on us to take care of our waterways. Managing the spread of invasive carp has been an important issue for maintaining healthy water resource ecosystems in Tennessee and around the country. I encourage my colleagues to support this legislation.”
