“I have an amendment at the desk. The Acting CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: At the end of the bill (before the short title), insert the following: Sec. __. (a) Each amount made available by this Act is hereby reduced by 1 percent. (b) The reduction in subsection (a) shall not apply with respect to-- (1) accounts under the heading ``Capitol Police''; (2) ``Architect of the Capitol--Capitol Police Buildings, Grounds and Security''; or (3) the amount provided for salaries and expenses of the Office of the Sergeant at Arms under the heading ``House of Representatives--Salaries, Officers and Employees''. The Acting CHAIR. Pursuant to House Resolution 271, the gentlewoman from Tennessee (Mrs. Blackburn) and a Member opposed each will control 5 minutes.
