Thank you, Madam Chairman. Today, I stand to support keeping the money--that $5 billion--that we need for readiness, and here is why: I think it is absolutely immoral that we would sign up, suit up and ship out men and women in uniform and not give them the readiness and the skills and the training that they need. The flying hours program is a great example of that. In the $5 billion that the gentleman would like to cut is the money for the flying hours program--37,000 flying hours. It would equip us with 500 aviators, whom we need. Let's fund these efforts for the men and women in uniform.
