“I come from the wing of the Democratic Party here in the Congress that thinks that it is important that we get our Nation's books in balance. I do not see how we, as stewards of this land in our time in public office here, can think about leaving a country to our children and grandchildren that is as financially weak as this one will surely be if all we do is a touch and go in the year 2002, and then climb aboard the space shuttle and take back off on a rocket ship to oblivion and debt.”
