I have been involved in this cause for a long time because I am a former college President myself at Cumberland University, a small, private, independent college in the State of Tennessee. I am proud to be able to say that we have six colleges and universities that fall in this category when we talk about Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the great State of Tennessee, and that is Fisk University, Meharry Medical College and Tennessee State University, all located in Nashville, Tennessee. Then we have Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee; Lemoyne Owen College in Memphis; and Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tennessee.
