The leadership that Patsy commanded on the welfare reauthorization debate this year really exemplified her values and her character. During that debate and during our work on that bill, Patsy Mink authored a fair and compassionate bill that would have helped women provide for their families and enhance their futures through education. Although that bill was not voted out of the House, it was really the right bill, and many of my colleagues, myself included, supported it. We were determined to stand by Patsy through this. I am glad we did. She was right.”
