On countless occasions throughout the State of Utah, I have articulated the fact that I believe we have no business raising the debt limit without first adopting permanent structural change in the form of a constitutional balanced budget amendment. The people of Utah elected me in part based on that promise. Elections have consequences, and in my case this was one of them.

Medicaid, healthcare outcomes and the cost of healthcare are of the utmost importance to our states. Not only because they are such a big piece of our budget but because it is about serving some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
