Under this new proposal, those who have already been given a judgment, have done everything within their power to resolve this matter using the current system, will be told that effort is now nullified and they will have to restart under this new system for whatever compensation they might be awarded. I would say again--I don't know if the Senator was in the Chamber when I illustrated or described one particular case, a case involving someone who had been exposed to asbestos for 15 years--under this bill, that person, who has lung cancer, who smoked, who was exposed to asbestos for 15 years, is entitled to as little as $25,000.
