Madam President, I ask unanimous consent when the Senate adjourns on Thursday, Sept. 10, it stand adjourned until 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14.

I’m a realist. I don’t ever try and sugarcoat things. I think it’s a competitive environment right now.

Unfortunately, I think after two government shutdowns that have extended for a long period of time, it’s better for everybody if there’s predictability, certainty, and just to take that issue off the table.

It seems to me sometimes I’m the only one who can count to 50 in this town.
