The senior assistant legislative clerk read as follows: A bill (S. 1387) to reauthorize the Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program Authorization Act of 2018, and for other purposes. There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the bill, which had been reported from the Committee on the Judiciary with an amendment to strike all after the enacting clause and insert in lieu thereof the following: SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ``Project Safe Neighborhoods Reauthorization Act of 2023''. SEC. 2. FINDINGS. Congress finds the following: (1) Launched in 2001, the Project Safe Neighborhoods program is a nationwide initiative that brings together Federal, State, local, and Tribal law enforcement officials, prosecutors, community leaders, and other stakeholders to identify the most pressing crime problems in a community and work collaboratively to address those problems. (2) The Project Safe Neighborhoods program-- (A) operates in all 94 Federal judicial districts throughout the 50 States and territories of the United States; and (B) implements 4 key components to successfully reduce violent crime in communities, including community engagement, prevention and intervention, focused and strategic enforcement, and accountability.
