“Mr. President, as the lead Democratic cosponsor of Senator Crapo's amendment, I want to commend and salute him for his leadership. Senators Durbin and Booker and I have all joined from our side. Senator Crapo, Senator Risch, Senator Hatch, and Senator Kirk are on the Republican side. This is truly a bipartisan amendment. I hope it will get a strong and positive vote. It is very important that America continue its innovation in the area of advanced nuclear technologies. They continue to confer immense promise. We are seeing the promise of American innovation realized overseas, for instance, where the first traveling wave technologies are being constructed in China, not here. We need to make sure we continue our investment. We need to make sure we are doing good regulation so that innovation can proceed to the market. We hope this amendment will help move that forward.
