The text of the amendment is as follows: At the end of subtitle B of title XXXI, add the following new section: SEC. 31__. FUNDING FOR LOW-ENRICHED URANIUM RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT. (a) Increase.--Notwithstanding the amounts set forth in the funding tables in division D, the amount authorized to be appropriated by this title for defense nuclear nonproliferation, as specified in the corresponding funding table in section 4701, for low-enriched uranium research and development is hereby increased by $20,000,000. (b) Offset.--Notwithstanding the amounts set forth in the funding tables in division D, the amount authorized to be appropriated by this title for atomic energy defense activities, as specified in the corresponding funding table in section 4701, for Federal salaries and expenses is hereby reduced by $20,000,000.
