I am disappointed the Administration has let the position go unfilled for six and a half years, but I am also committed to ensuring that the individual that we confirm is fully independent, with good judgment in difficult situations and a firm grasp of the responsibilities of an Inspector General, not only to the Secretary but to Congress as well.
