I thank the chairman for yielding. I rise today, Mr. Speaker, in strong support of trade. It is time for us to lead. When you open up markets to our manufacturers, to our workers, you are creating jobs here on American soil. I am a firm believer in U.S. manufacturing, Mr. Speaker. I co-chair with my colleague from Ohio the Manufacturing Caucus here, and what we are seeing is a renaissance in U.S. manufacturing. We are finally driving utility costs down. We are creating an opportunity where U.S. manufacturers are coming back on shore. What do we need to do? We need to create markets. Ninety-five percent of the world's population lives outside of America's borders. Forty percent of the world's market is represented in the negotiations that are going on with the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Why in the world would we not lead and negotiate an openness and fair level playing field for our American workers and our American manufacturers? It doesn't make any sense. I ask my colleagues to join us, join with us, to open up these markets so that we can create the jobs of today and tomorrow where we make it here to sell it there. That is what this is doing. That is what trade is all about. When we have rules-based trade, our workers and our manufacturers win. I encourage us not to get into these petty political fights and have some type of litmus test as to who is on whose side in regards to this issue.…
