Mr. Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume for the purpose of closing. Mr. Speaker, when China works to intimidate and isolate a partner of the United States, one that shares our values, our commitment to democracy, our vision for engagement around, we should stand by our partner's side. That is what American leadership is supposed to look like. That is exactly what we see happening with Taiwan, and if we really support the U.S.-Taiwan partnership, we need to help our partner get out from under China's thumb. This bill would help to do that and would send a clear signal of the importance we place on the U.S.-China relationship. Mr. Speaker, I urge all Members to support this bill so we can send it to the President's desk, and I yield back the balance of my time. The SPEAKER pro tempore. The question is on the motion offered by the gentleman from Rhode Island (Mr. Cicilline) that the House suspend the rules and pass the bill, S. 1678, as amended. The question was taken. The SPEAKER pro tempore. In the opinion of the Chair, two-thirds being in the affirmative, the ayes have it.
