Since the Goldman Act was enacted there has been a decline in the number of American children abducted overseas and that is a good news story.
I think it is a terrible bill. It saddens me to say that because I have deep respect for the chairman.
Because it ignores the fundamental reality that our country has been made stronger, more vibrant, more dynamic, more powerful because of the arrival of immigrants, and refugees, and asylum seekers.
We must remember that child abduction is child abuse and it has devastating emotional, psychological, and even physical consequences for both abducted children and their families left behind.
