I will respond to those critics of President Bush who have taken unfair shots at him over the 9-11 situation, and will factually refute what people like the minority leader, the gentleman from Missouri (Mr. Gephardt), have said publicly about this President somehow not heeding evidence that was provided to him. I am going to present the true facts of what we could have and should have done prior to September 11 that I think would have allowed us to both understand what was about to occur and to have done something about it. Mr. Speaker, let me start out by saying, first of all, in response to many of the media pundits who have spent the last week or 10 days criticizing President Bush and have publicly said that he had indications that should have alerted him to the upcoming attack on the World Trade Center, nothing could be farther from the truth.
