I will close quickly here. I sure appreciate the good gentleman from Tennessee. He has a lot to work with, and he has a lot of competing interests here. It is not easy. We certainly can appreciate that. I want to point out that this is a regional commission, a regional commission like the other ones, like the Appalachian Regional Commission, like the Delta Regional Authority. Only this one exists in only one place, in Alaska. It is a wonderful place. Alaska is a great place, part of the United States of America, but tax dollars from across the country, including Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or Ohio, shouldn't go to pay for local projects that can be handled by State and local governments, especially when you are borrowing money to do it. We are out of money. We are out. Mr. Chair, I urge adoption of this amendment, and I yield back the balance of my time. {time} 2000 The Acting CHAIR.
