Access to capital is a true driver of whether a small business startup or entrepreneur can sustain business operations.
It is an important subject, clearly. Very financially important situation that needs clarification. No question.
They would have to reduce, with this $15 minimum wage, reduce staff by 20 percent and raise food prices by 25 to 30 percent.
We cannot have that in our small communities. We need to defend them, not put them in a position where they can go out of business.
I just think this is the wrong approach. This 'one size fits all' deal as a mandate from Washington is not good.
They are going to have to drop employees. They are going to have to cut staff.
The idea of helping employees by telling employers what to pay them, President Biden actually said that raising the minimum wage to $15 across the Nation, regardless of the economic situation of the area, somehow that is going to help businesses through this very difficult recovery.
If you really were serious about helping restaurants and you really want to be able to fund them at the rate we need to, that is what he is actually trying to do.
