Gun violence is a public health issue. Just this year alone, we have seen more than 10,000 deaths and more than 40,000 gun-related incidences. We have run out of excuses to not act on this. These are people's lives we are talking about, and while we move forward with long-overdue discussions on gun control legislation, we cannot forget the victims of gun violence, who already deal with the daily consequences of inaction. The Resources for Victims of Gun Violence Act, which I introduced with Senator Bob Casey, would establish an interagency advisory council to connect these victims with critical information, programs, and benefits they need. I urge all Members to join us in supporting this common sense legislation.
Community development financial institutions were critical to getting PPP loans to small businesses in my home city of Philadelphia.
However, that excitement has turned to frustration. Many constituent business owners have reached out to my office because they are waiting weeks or months to hear anything about their EIDL application.
Across the U.S., there are nearly 30 million small businesses supporting almost 59 million jobs.
