Being a governor right now means protecting our state, defending our values against an overreach of a federal administration that does not care about people fundamentally and so that is a big part of my job right now.

I fought for these funds in my budget to stabilize services in Oregon because rural communities deserve reliable, high quality maternity care close to home.

This decision is about my responsibility to make sure state actions reflect Oregon’s values and serve the public interest.
