We can maintain the shelters, but if we can keep people from having to need a shelter, or help people get into more permanent housing, that is going to be important.
Being a governor right now means protecting our state, defending our values against an overreach of a federal administration that does not care about people fundamentally and so that is a big part of my job right now.
This decision is about my responsibility to make sure state actions reflect Oregon’s values and serve the public interest.
