Tina Kotek: “I am relieved that all 200 Oregon citizen-soldiers are finally heading home.”

This decision is about my responsibility to make sure state actions reflect Oregon’s values and serve the public interest.

It is also important we recognize the impacts and hardships this pandemic imposed on [adults in custody] and their families, especially those who lost loved ones.

It will be a challenge to put my recommended budget together, but I would also say I worked on budgets in the Great Recession and through COVID.

We can maintain the shelters, but if we can keep people from having to need a shelter, or help people get into more permanent housing, that is going to be important.
