I join in the spirit of trying to work on this issue to resolve a situation that I truly believe is broken. If we don't succeed in this, we are frankly not going to say that we are content with the status quo. The status quo is not acceptable. These people are here in this country illegally. There ought to be a way in which they can be here legally to do this work, which they want to do, and which we need them to do in order to avoid a serious crisis on the American farm. I ask my colleagues to support this amendment. It is historic. It is important. But it is also a work in progress. This bill represents progress. I thank the President, and I yield the floor.
