we have before us now the continuing resolution that the House acted upon last night, H.R. 2880. The existing continuing resolution expires today at midnight, the 26th. All of us want to avoid another shutdown of the Federal Government, and its departments' and agencies' funding in the appropriations bills not yet signed into law. Therefore, we need to act expeditiously on the measure now before us, which provides for continued operations until March 15th. For the activities funded in the Commerce, Justice, State, Judiciary, and related agencies appropriations bills and the VA-HUD appropriations bill, the measure before us will provide funding at the levels established in the conference agreements on those bills generally under the terms and conditions of fiscal year 1995. The exception is made for the Department of Justice, which will operate at fiscal year 1996 funding levels, under fiscal year 1996 terms and conditions.
