in very brief format, this amendment is about recognizing that global warming is having an impact on some of the poorest countries around the world, and that the United States should work with these nations in terms of helping them address some of those consequences. But the amendment also notes that we have communities in the United States that are poor and struggling with the impacts of climate change and that we should give much attention to helping those communities address the impacts as well and that these two issues--helping poor countries around the world and helping communities within the United States--are not in conflict with each other in that we should be doing both of these things. Amendment No. 125 to Amendment No. 2 (Purpose: To eliminate unnecessary tax subsidies and provide infrastructure funding.) I wish to call up a second amendment, so I ask unanimous consent to set aside the pending amendment and call up amendment No. 125. The PRESIDING OFFICER. Is there objection? Without objection, it is so ordered. The clerk will report. The assistant bill clerk read as follows: The Senator from Oregon [Mr. Merkley] proposes an amendment numbered 125 to amendment No. 2.
