I think it is a common concern, that that long wait time is, you need to have enough time for people to prepare their asylum case fairly but not so long that it is essentially years waiting while you fall in love, you have children, you get married, or whatever that complicates the whole damn system.
Merkley emphasizes the need for a balanced asylum process timeline.
