Jeff Merkley: “Why does it make sense that we are providing such a massive protection for those levels? Those aren't basic retirement…”

This is an insult to Congress and the Constitution.

To be clear: Both parties have played a role in creating Senate dysfunction, and both have a responsibility to fix it.

America today is larger, busier and more complex than the America our Founding Fathers designed the Senate and its rules to govern.

I have heard heart-wrenching stories from Oregonians who have lost loved ones after a prescription for an injury or treatment turned into an addiction.
