I support the Armey amendment which removes the teacher certification requirements from the bill and, further, will clarify that nothing in this Act shall be construed to permit, allow, encourage, or authorize any Federal control over any aspect of any private, religious, or home school. I fully support the right of parents to choose the best schooling option for their children--whether that choice be private, religious, home, or public school. Further, I strongly believe that parents should be the one to make this decision, not the Government. I encourage parents to become more involved is making decisions about the education of their children. By passing this amendment, we will specifically preserve that important right. I am proud to support it, and urge my colleagues to vote in its favor.
