That's a very important point. The Society of American Civil Engineers has produced another fascinating report about what the cost will be if we don't invest in the water infrastructure. They have documented tens of billions of dollars of extra cost if we do not take care of these problems. It is not a problem that is unknown to American homeowners, who quickly find out if you don't fix the hole in the roof, you end up with massive structural damage.
