This is the home stretch. We have had examples, for the last 14 years that I've been in Congress, where communities are struggling to figure out how to put the pieces together. I commend the committee for its work to try and give the tools the communities need to stretch Federal dollars, to be able to encourage private sector investments, to build on models of proven success, the cutting edge of architecture, of construction, of energy conservation, water. These are areas that America desperately needs. I think it would be shortsighted to cut back on this fine work. I will guarantee you over the course of the next decade that Congresses and future administrations are going to build on the foundation that you've established. I hope that this Congress does its part by moving this forward and supporting the subcommittee's important work.
