Mr. President, as if in executive session, I ask unanimous consent that at a time to be determined by the majority leader, following consultation with the Republican leader, the Senate proceed in executive session to consider the following nominations: Calendar No. 703, Benita Pearson, from the Northern Ohio District--if I could for a moment say that she was selected by a committee of 17 appointees from Senator Voinovich and me, and Judge Magistrate Pearson was chosen unanimously by this group, submitted to the President by--I submitted her name to the President, the President nominated her. She was voted out of committee in February of this year, out of the Judiciary Committee. I will be thrilled to move forward on that and discuss that tomorrow--also, Calendar No. 813, William Martinez; that debate on each nomination be limited to 60 minutes, equally divided and controlled between Senators Leahy and Sessions or their designees; that upon the use or yielding back of all time, the Senate then proceed to vote on confirmation of the nominations in the order listed; that prior to the second vote, there be 2 minutes of debate divided as specified above; that the second vote be limited to 10 minutes; that upon confirmation, the motion to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table, the President be immediately notified of the Senate's action, and the Senate then resume legislative session.
