Mr. President, I think it is great that we have the opportunity to come to the floor today to talk about what our constituents are telling us. We do not do that enough. Last night I had a tele-townhall meeting. We had about 25,000 Ohioans. At every one of these tele-townhalls, we do a poll asking what the most important issue is. And of the tele-townhalls we have done, which is one a month, every single time it has been jobs and the economy--until last night. Last night it was health care. That is because most of the questions I got were about health care coverage and people concerned about losing it. Let me read a letter from one of my constituents. It is indicative of what I am hearing all around the State. This is from Dean. He lives in Sandusky, OH. He writes: Ever since I lost my job in 2009 I have been purchasing my own health care insurance. Last month I received a letter in the mail stating that my plan is being cancelled due to the ACA. I was told to look at plans on the exchange, which I did and I found a comparable plan that is over twice the cost of what I now have. In addition, this is over half of my monthly pension. I simply can't afford this. I have always been a responsible, hard-working, self-dependent person. Now, due to the actions of our government, for the first time in my life I will not have any health insurance coverage. I am 59 years old and I need this coverage. I am outraged to say the least. How can our government do this to us?…
