This amendment prohibits oil and gas leasing on any tract of land off the coast of Virginia. Mr. Chair, this amendment prohibits oil and gas ========================= END NOTE ========================= Offshore oil and gas exploration accounts for roughly 15 percent of all domestic oil production and 2 percent of domestic natural gas production. By further limiting offshore leasing, we will not be able to meet demand for oil and gas as it increases. I urge a ``no'' vote on this amendment. Mr. Chair, I yield back the balance of my time.
