This is not politics as usual. This is a defining moral moment for our country.

People don't choose to leave their families and communities, their culture, their language on a whim. Most often people leave because their very lives are at stake.

I really think that as part of a Committee on Homeland Security we have an obligation to really bring our immigration laws into the 21st Century and do it in a bipartisan manner.
