I will conclude, Madam Chairman, by suggesting that the mainstream view, the view that has been endorsed on a bipartisan basis by mainstream Republicans and Democrats on the Appropriations Committee and the American people is that we should make investments in education. The fringe view: more oil money for oil companies.

Well, it`s a huge win and also well timed. We are 95 days away from the midterm elections, tough environment for Democrats.
I can tell you, Long Islanders, they will tolerate disagreement with their Member of Congress. They will not tolerate dishonesty.
Both of these races will test this proposition, do Democratic voters want purity and ideology on the left? Or do they want pragmatism and winnability near the center?
What could have united Congress and those middle class and working families was progress on infrastructure.
