Paul Tonko: “Superfund is critical to protecting Americans' health and the environment.”

The Hudson River is the nation's largest Superfund site. Hazardous waste and legacy chemicals remain unacceptably high, threatening the health and safety of ecosystems, wildlife, and human health throughout the entire Watershed.

I believe that leaves the individual of focus this evening, the chairwoman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Mr. Speaker, I yield to the gentlewoman from Washington (Mrs. Rodgers).

We must use every tool at our disposal to tackle the climate crisis; that includes removing harmful legacy emissions from our atmosphere.

Mr. Tonko's bill would create a new program specifically for what it defines as the New York-New Jersey Watershed.
