Mr. Speaker, I want to make it very clear to my colleagues: This motion to recommit will ensure the government remains closed. It will be irresponsible to adopt this motion. This means all those people who are not getting paid will continue not to get a paycheck to support their families. They will not be able to go to the supermarket and act like normal families. This is totally irresponsible. Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues to strongly reject this motion, and I yield back the balance of my time. The SPEAKER pro tempore. Without objection, the previous question is ordered on the motion to recommit. There was no objection. The SPEAKER pro tempore. The question is on the motion to recommit. The question was taken; and the Speaker pro tempore announced that the noes appeared to have it.
