Nita Lowey: “I am pleased to yield 1 minute to the distinguished gentleman from California (Mr. Ruiz).”

I urge this Subcommittee to continue its longstanding support for critical people-to-people and peacebuilding programming.

MEPPA offers the one thing that has always stood between proven civil society initiatives and widespread change: the promise of sufficient peacebuilding resources.

I am delighted to yield 5 minutes to the gentlewoman from California (Ms. Waters), the chair of the Committee on Financial Services.

We must address this situation head-on.
