let us not forget that a previous liberal Congress put upon the American people the largest tax increase in our history. Indeed, to quote a member of the other body on this hill, a liberal Senator from New York State, he said it was not just the largest tax increase in American history but the largest tax increase in the history of the world. If there is one primary difference, it is this: Our common sense conservative majority believes that, Mr. Speaker, the folks who live in this country, who work hard and pay the bills, have worked very hard for the money they earn. They need to hold on to more of it and send less of it here to Washington.
