Why muzzle the veterans 60 days before the election? If they have concerns in a free society, let them bring them forth and make them clear. Do not abridge that. Oh, yes, I guess that is right, that they can advertise on the pages of the New York Times. I know that is of acute interest to at least a few in this Chamber. But why would we abridge their rights to freedom of speech? This is the essence of the battle of ideas in a free society, and what has gone on here is suppression of that debate, the very thing we should champion.
