I think that is absolutely necessary. We manifested in perhaps another fashion what is key on this legislation that will be offered by the gentleman from Ohio in a bipartisan manner is to say that there needs to be effective oversight of the Internal Revenue Service not only from the constitutional purview of those of us in the Congress, but also immediate oversight. And right now the Internal Revenue Service is the 800-pound gorilla, if you will, of the Treasury Department, because so many of the resources allocated for Treasury end up in the Treasury of the IRS. So much of the Treasury budget is focused there that sometimes it is the tail wagging the dog, so to speak. What the legislation calls for is an independent advisory oversight council, not based on political appointees, but again to remove some of the suspicion, some of the coincidence of audits, some of the questions that I think Americans of all political persuasions have to depoliticize that agency. Of course, this is but a first step.…
