From my perspective, having represented rural Arizona in the Congress of the United States, having had the Rodeo-Chedeski fire burn hundreds of thousands of acres, Mr. Speaker, I bring to the floor a photo that is worth a thousand words of verbiage because it tells the tale of what transpired in the White Mountains of Arizona in the wake of the Rodeo-Chedeski fire, and it tells the story compellingly. The area in the upper part of this photograph was treated. Effective forest management was utilized. The untreated area, there were delays through appeals and paralysis by analysis; and the Members see what happened. I listened with interest to my friend from Florida who in curious fashion said we do not have to worry about trees if there are no trees there. I do not know what rhetorical point he was trying to make, but the fact is Members of this Congress, including 16 of my friends on the other side of the aisle, have signed on to this Healthy Forest Initiative because we have to get something done, precisely because of the concerns of my friend from Oregon.
