I talked to one of my most important constituents, indeed, my most important constituent, my wife Mary. Ms. Mary's first question was this: ``How do we pay for all these programs?'' Will this lead to a greater deficit? And that is a question that is one that is filled with compassion and with common sense. Let us work to rein in spending, to allow working families to hold on to more of their hard-earned money, to look for what is reasonable and rational. That is the key in this Congress and in the years ahead.
